When to Go to the Beaches in Morocco
One of the best things about visiting the beaches in Morocco is that the weather is bloody good all freakin year! (I mean it does reach into the 40s in the peak of summer, but it’s a dry heat so it’s bearable.) With an average of 300 days of sunshine per year, just about any month of the year is a good time to hit the beach.
However, if you’re looking to shred some big ass waves, the best time to visit is during the winter months (November-March) when the Atlantic swells are at their peak. You will absolutely froth at the right-handers and point breaks, plus winter weather means fewer surfers and more waves for you! Beginners, this is not your time to shine.

Beginners will have a much more enjoyable travelling to Morocco during the summer months (April-October) when the water is calmer and more suitable for learning. Plus, the water temp is much warmer in the summer meaning you can ditch that wetsuit and soak up some Moroccan sun.
If you prefer to avoid crowds and enjoy a more peaceful beach experience, visiting during the shoulder seasons of spring (March-May) or autumn (September-November) is ideal. The temperatures are milder and the beaches are less crowded, making it a perfect time for sunbathing and swimming.

The Most Popular Beach in Morocco | Agadir Beach
- Who’s it for: Everyone! Sun worshipers, wave catchers, and kids just trying to play in the sand.
- Don’t miss: The massive Sunday market at Souk El Had
Agadir Beach is arguably the crown jewel of Morocco’s shoreline, with the fine golden sand lining the Atlantic coast for miles. Everyone loves this beach! You can catch a wave, rent a bed from a beach club, or just relax and soak up the sun. I mean with around 340 days of sun, this is every summer bird’s paradise.
But trust me when I say it can get BUSY! With locals and tourists setting up camp along the beach, it can get pretty crowded during peak season. If you’re not a fan of crowds, you can head into one of the hotels or cafes that have beach access for a more secluded and luxurious experience.
The swell of the water can often be rough, you’ll want to be a confident swimmer or stick to the designated swimming areas. But there are so many water sports activities to try out, from jet skiing and paragliding to banana boat rides and surfing lessons.
And when the heat is getting the best of you, and it will, you can head out to Paradise Valley, a natural oasis with waterfalls, natural pools, and stunning scenery. It’s only a short drive from Agadir Beach and totally worth the visit when staying in Morocco.
You also HAVE to check out the Souk El Had, if you thought the souks in Marrakech were amazing, just wait until you see this one. It’s one of the largest markets in Africa and has everything from fresh produce to handmade rugs, spices, and souvenirs. But it’s only open on Sundays, so looks like you gotta spend the weekend in Agadir – what a shame ;).

This budget-friendly stay is perfect for travellers looking to save some money while still being close to the beach. With dorms and private rooms available, it’s a great option for solo travellers or couples.

I have yet to see a beach as wild, raw, and beautiful as Legzira Beach. I’ve seen some gorgeous blue waters, and even some pink sands, but there’s something unique about Legzira. It’s remote and undeveloped, making it the perfect spot for those looking to travel off the beaten path and experience nature at its finest.
The only downside to visiting Legzira is it’s not very swimmable, the Atlantic is strong and the waves are powerful. So it’s really not a beach for swimming, but rather for taking in the stunning views and enjoying some solitude. However, there are some other activities for those looking for a bit of thrill in their holiday.
One popular activity at Legzira is paragliding. From the top of the cliffs, you can take in the breathtaking views while soaring through the air. TBH I was too big of a chicken to try this, but damn they looked like they were having a blast up there!
And of course, the main attraction at Legzira Beach is the famous red arch, which stands tall and majestic in the middle of the beach. This thousand-year-old natural wonder that will leave you speechless. The best time to visit is during sunset as the colors of the sky reflect off of the arch and create a stunning backdrop for photos.

Janna D’ifni
This traditional stay in Sidi Ifni is the perfect oasis after the long drive from Marrakech or Agadir. With a shared pool and cosy rooms, it’s the perfect place to relax after some days in the city.

Essaouira is one of the most popular destinations in all of Morocco and I’m officially obsessed. Firstly, it’s one of the safest cities in the country. You can walk around by yourself, and not be worried about getting catcalled or scammed, it’s just marvellous!
Secondly, it’s so lively with all of the shops, street food, and music playing in the streets. The bohemian vibes are off the charts and it makes for a really cool atmosphere. So if you like a more chill and laidback feel to your holidays, Essaouira is the place to be.
But aside from all of that, Essaouira has one of the best beaches in all of Morocco. The wind and waves make it a popular destination for windsurfing, kiteboarding, and other water sports. If you aren’t too keen on being whipped around, the beach is still a great place to relax and soak up the sun, and the water is relatively calm so you can go for a swim!
But my favourite part about Essaouira is its unique blend of Moroccan culture and history. The Medina (old town) offers a glimpse into traditional Moroccan life with its narrow alleys filled with shops selling everything from traditional crafts to spices and local delicacies. The ramparts, built in the 18th century, offer some amazing views of the city and coastline, making it a great place to catch the sunset.

You can only reach this destination by 4x4s, hence why it’s not your typical tourist spot. But it’s absolutely worth it. You’ll see a quick drop-off where the dunes level out and the gorgeous turquoise waters start.
The White Dune Beach is the perfect spot for adrenaline junkies who are into windsurfing, kiteboarding, and other water sports. The wind conditions here are prime for both beginners and more experienced surfers. There is also a kitesurfing school on the beach if you need to brush up on your skills or learn something new.

If you’re feeling really keen, join the surf safari. You’ll be taken to the best surf breaks around Taghazout in a 4×4, and get to experience some of the most epic waves Morocco has to offer. Family-Friendly Beach in Morocco | Dalia Beach
- Who’s it for: Families!
- Don’t miss: Swimming in the shallow, calm waters!
So many of the beaches in Morocco aren’t very swimmable because of the rough waves. Dalia Beach is perfect for travelling families with small children who want to enjoy a day at the beach without worrying about dangerous currents as it’s tucked away in a sheltered cove.
Dali Beach is definitely the prettiest beach near Tangier. It’s located about 30 minutes outside of the city, making it a great day trip for families staying in the centre. But the small 1km bay can get packed in the summers. So it’s best to get there early, or be okay feeling like a sardine for the day!
The beach itself is sandy with crystal-clear water, making it perfect for swimming and snorkelling. Along the shoreline, there are also shallow rock pools that can be explored during low tide. Kids will love discovering different sea creatures in these mini pools.
If you want to take a break from swimming, you can rent kayaks or pedal boats to explore further out into the bay. And don’t forget to pack a picnic lunch, the facilities are a little lacking, so I recommend taking enough food and drinks for the day.

Socco Hostel
