Named after the British Duke of York, the US state of New York is best known for the bustling New York ‘city that never sleeps’ and the magnificent Niagara Falls.

It is nicknamed the Empire State because many experts believe George Washington called New York “the seat of the Empire.” Iconic buildings and attractions dominate NYC’s Manhattan, like the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty. While Long Island is lined with beaches.

Further upstate, we find natural wonders like the Catskills Mountains and forests, Adirondack Park, Lake Erie, and many others. New York State is a mix of everything.

And New York has no shortage of amazing places to stay. When looking for unique accommodation, I always prefer a bed and breakfast in New York, because they offer an authentic and homely experience of the place.

B&Bs in New York range in many shapes and sizes. Your next stay could be a B&B in a farmhouse or in a Victorian home from the 1800s, a lavish hotel in the city or cozy residential home in a quiet neighborhood. There’s a B&B for everyone!

Searching for that perfect bed and breakfast can be time-consuming and stressful. So I have compiled a list of some of the best B&Bs in New York to help you out. So, when you’re ready, let’s take a look at the best B&Bs in New York.

New York is a state that has something for everyone. With tons of famous places to visit and experience, it’s natural that you’d be exhausted by the end of the day and would want to crash at a homely place.

Now whether you choose a private room or a suite, New York has a host of options and places. Bed and breakfasts are often filled with charm and character.  Airbnb.com and booking.com should be your friends on your search for the perfect bed and breakfast. But narrowing down all the search filters is hard work, so I’ve already done the hard work for you here.

Whether you want to be in the thick of the city or stay in Lake George for a relaxing break from the hustle and bustle, let me help you find the perfect place to rest.

What to Look for in a Bed and Breakfast

New York isn’t exactly a budget-friendly destination, but you can still find some affordable bed and breakfasts, particularly outside the Big Apple. So what should you look for in a bed and breakfast in New York? Location matters. If you’re staying in New York City, places in Queens or Brooklyn will be cheaper than those in Manhattan.

Places upstate should be near the great outdoors, with easy access to the town. Secondly, travel season matters. You’ll find good prices during off-season months like January, February, July, and August. Peak seasons are usually April, May, September, and October. Prices vary during these months.

If you’re traveling on a New York road trip, look for a place with parking, especially if you’re staying in the city, because parking is not always free.

You should also look for the amenities that will make your stay more comfortable, such as a private bathroom (a lot of B&Bs have shared bathrooms), fast Wifi, a communal area to meet other travelers, and also self-catering facilities. As most B&Bs offer dining options, and of course, breakfast, they might not be happy for you to use their kitchen – it’s a good idea to check that out if you love to cook.

So now that you know what to look for, let’s have a look at the bed and breakfasts I have compiled for you.
