Seminyak is one of the most popular tourist destinations for backpackers in Bali, just a little north of Kuta. Although small in size, it is bursting with a plethora of beaches for you to explore, all with astounding sunset views every evening. Some of them have restaurants and bars lining them, others are quiet, and some have perfect waves for a bit of surfing!
What really characterises Seminyak is its natural features – outstanding beaches, gorgeous scenery and brilliant opportunities to explore this. So if you’re looking for an urban break, this isn’t really the place for you, however, the culture here is still eclectic and vibrant. Much of the surrounding countryside has been captured in art by brilliant locals, which you can explore at Seminyak’s many galleries!
If you’re visiting Seminyak for the first time, then you have to start with one of these natural features: Seminyak Beach. Seminyak Beach is the hub and the best place to sit back, relax, and take in all the natural beauty on offer. There are also plenty of museums and galleries dotted about this central neighborhood if you want to get out of the sun.
Just because you’ don’t have a huge’re travelling budget doesn’t mean you can’t have an unforgettable experience here, you can find some reasonably priced accommodation. A little further inland is the delightful neighborhood of Kerobokan, which offers everything from spa treatments to gardens as well as some brilliant activities. If you’re interested in staying in a quieter part of town and discovering the hidden treasures of Seminyak, then this is the place for you.
For the culture vultures amongst you, then the best place to explore all that Seminyak has to offer is Kayu Aya or Petitenget. Near to Seminyak’s famous Flea Market, this is the place to be if you’re into art, cooking and local history. With temples, restaurants and museums around every corner, this is the coolest place to stay in Seminyak!
Taking the kids away can often seem like more trouble than it’s worth, but I’ve got you covered – all you need to do is book. Kayu Putih or Batu Belig has the advantage of being a little out of the centre of Seminyak, so it’s less busy! This neighborhood has the highest concentration of beautiful beaches than any of the others too.
Your nearest airport is Ngurah Rai International Airport just to the south, so you can get here very easily from all around the world!

Hide Yo’ Money!FAQs About Finding a Place to Stay in Seminyak
Here’s what people usually ask us about the areas of Seminyak and where to stay.
What To Pack For Seminyak
Pants, socks, underwear, soap?! Take it from me, packing for a hostel stay is not always quite as straightforward as it seems. Working out what to bring and what to leave at home is an art I have perfected over many years. Remember there are certain ways to behave respectfully in Indonesia – make sure you’ve got a long sleeve!
Ear Plugs
Snoring dorm-mates can ruin your nights rest and seriously damage the hostel experience. This is why I always travel with a pack of decent ear plugs.
Hanging Laundry Bag
Trust us, this is an absolute game changer. Super compact, a hanging mesh laundry bag stops your dirty clothes from stinking, you don’t know how much you need one of these… so just get it, thank us later.
Sea To Summit Micro Towel
Hostel towels are scummy and take forever to dry. Microfibre towels dry quickly, are compact, lightweight, and can be used as a blanket or yoga mat if need be.
Monopoly Deal
Forget about Poker! Monopoly Deal is the single best travel card game that we have ever played. Works with 2-5 players and guarantees happy days.
Grayl Geopress Water Bottle
Always travel with a water bottle! They save you money and reduce your plastic footprint on our planet. The Grayl Geopress acts as a purifier AND temperature regulator. Boom!

What are the best resorts in Seminyak?
Pelangi Bali Hotel & Spa is my ultimate pick, you’re beachfront AND there’s the option to have your own villa inside the resort too. I love the balance of feeling like you’ve got your own space but with all the conveniance of a Seminyak resort.
Can you eat street food in Seminyak?
Eating street food is always a risky venture, but simultaneously, the best food you will potentially eat in a counrty. If you choose to eat street, power to you and good luck and enjoy! I’ve only been got by Bali Belly once, touch wood.
Are there cheap hotels in Seminyak?
Oh yeah there are, although maybe staying somewhere like M Boutique Hostels is a better option? Cheap hotels are a bit gross in my experience and M Boutique is in a wonderful location, you’re within walking distance of Seminyak Beach. Plus, the pod beds give you so much privacy and theres’s even an outdoor swimming pool!
Don’t Forget Travel Insurance for Seminyak
As friendly as Seminyak is, everyone needs good travel insurance – you never know what’s going to happen!
ALWAYS sort out your backpacker insurance before your trip. There’s plenty to choose from in that department, but a good place to start is Safety Wing.
They offer month-to-month payments, no lock-in contracts, and require absolutely no itineraries: that’s the exact kind of insurance long-term travellers and digital nomads need.
SafetyWing is cheap, easy, and admin-free: just sign up lickety-split so you can get back to it!

Final Thoughts on Where to Stay in Seminyak
Sunsets to die for, breathtaking beaches and unforgettable activities – Seminyak has so much to offer to travellers of all types. It comes as no surprise that Seminyak is the perfect place to visit for all ages!
To recap: Seminyak Beach is the best place to stay in Seminyak for your first time. It’s the hub of the area have has activities of all kinds on offer to meet the wishes of you and your fellow travellers! Seminyak’s most luxurious all-inclusive option is The Samaya Seminyak Villas – everything you could need all in one package!
If you’re on that broke backpacker buzz and need something a little less spendy, I feel ya! Stellar Capsules is a great pick if you’re stopping through Seminyak. This hostel is chic, you have the privacy of pod beds but there’s still a pool and a good social scene to meet other travellers.
But if you’re staying awhile, I can’t recommend staying in a homestay highly enough – you’ll feel more in touch with the local community… And, you’ll probably be able to talk to the owners about long-term rental prices, maybe even a scooter hire too.
Wherever you stay in Seminyak, there is so much to explore in and around the area I’m sure you’ll have a rad time.
