Staying in a Yurt in Texas

Texas is freaking HUGE! To drive from the bottom to the top takes about 16 hours. Yes, you’re still in the same state. So, if you’re not from around here and want to explore the beauty of Texas, one of the best ways to do so is by staying in a yurt!

The yurts in Texas range from basic “tents” to full-blown luxury glamping experiences. Some are in the woods, others near lakes, and some even have hot tubs! It’s one of my favorite ways to experience the wide open spaces the state has to offer and the best places to stay whilst on a Texas road trip.

Sure, you could hole up in a hotel in downtown Austin, but the beauty of Texas is in its people and its nature. Staying in a yurt allows you to fully immerse yourself in both. Plus, who doesn’t love sleeping under the stars?

Growing up in the country, I can’t even explain to people how peaceful it is to wake up with the sun, hear the birds chirping, and breathe in fresh air. You’ve got to experience it on your trip around the US.

So, let’s dive in and explore the 15 best yurts in Texas!

The 15 Top Yurts in Texas

Whether you want to explore Big Bend National Park, sip some wine in the hill country, or throw on your best cowboy boots and dance in Austin, these yurts are scattered throughout the state, so you can enjoy all that Texas has to offer.

El Cosmico | Overall Best Value Yurt in Texas

El Cosmico

This retro stay in Texas is one of my absolute favorite spots! Located in the alpine desert of Marfa it’s become a popular stop on any West Texas Itinerary. Famous for their teepees and yurts, you can enjoy the wild wild west but with a touch of luxury. Even better, the firepits inside the yurt make even the coldest of nights in the desert all snuggly.

The area is scattered with different unique stays but because of how big the property is, you get plenty of privacy. You can rent bikes to cruise around town or even chill in a wood-fired hot tub for ultimate relaxation. With its outdoor stage and hammock grove, this is my go-to spot for music festivals like El Cosmico’s own Trans-Pecos Festival of Music + Love.
