St Vincent and the Grenadines (or SVG as some of the cool kids call it) is a Caribbean nation made up of a total of 32 islands! St Vincent is the largest of the islands, with the Grenadines making up the rest of this Caribbean island cluster.
It’s known for its pristine beaches, lush tropical landscapes, and volcanic mountains – symbols that are synonymous with the Caribbean. But there’s plenty more to the nation than simply its outdoor offering, although I was sold at the pristine beaches part.

Now, I’ve already given you a little snippet about why Bequia is so rad, but let me continue to sing its praises a bit more. It’s also home to the charming town of Port Elizabeth, which is home to lively bars, warm and welcoming locals, and colourful markets.
Arnos Vale (St Vincent)
Located on the southern coast of St Vincent, Arnos Vale is both a serene and historically rich area, known both for its stunning scenery and cultural significance. It’s also home to the iconic Arnos Vale Hotel, which dates all the way back to the 19th century.
Brighton (St Vincent)
Rounding off the top areas is Brighton, one of the best areas to stay in St Vincent and the Grenadines for families. Located on the western coast of St Vincent, Brighton offers visitors quiet beaches ideal for both swimming and relaxing as well as stunning natural beauty to discover.
Now, as you probably picked up at the beginning of this article, St Vincent and the Grenadines is made up of 32 islands. This means there are plenty of areas to stay between them, and off the bat, I’m sure this might seem somewhat overwhelming. But don’t stress, I’ve got your back!
I’ve narrowed it down to three main areas that I would recommend staying in when visiting the island nation. Drum roll, please – they are Bequia, Arnos Vale, and Brighton. This already helps to narrow it down when deciding on where to stay in St Vincent and the Grenadines. But let me go into some more detail about each place.
If you’re visiting for the first time, I’d recommend staying in Bequia, which is the largest island in the Grenadines. Think stunning beaches, crystal clear waters, and sheltered bays that are perfect for sailing. What’s more, you can visit the Old Hegg Turtle Sanctuary, explore the island’s rich maritime history, or head out for a hike with breathtaking views from the Summit. You can’t beat it as a tropical island destination.
If you’re a more budget-conscious traveler, then my recommendation would be to base yourself in Arnos Vale on Vincent. If you’re a swim-a-holic like me, then you’ll love the beach offering here. Think golden sand and calm waters – a swimmer’s paradise! There are also some great opportunities for birdwatching and discovering the local flora and fauna. It’s giving off ornithologist meets Dora the Explorer vibes.
Lastly, if you’re a traveling family looking for the best place to stay in St Vincent and the Grenadines, then Brighton is your spot. Located on the southwestern coast of St Vincent Island, it boasts epic beaches, lush hills, and incredible natural beauty. It serves as the perfect base for exploring the surrounding islands and great fishing, hiking, and sailing opportunities for the whole family. Tranquillity and relaxation are the operative words here.
