The Royal St. Kitts Hotel is the perfect blend of comfort and luxury – and that’s what makes it so great. Think spacious rooms, an epic beachfront, and a chilled atmosphere. So, get ready to engage in that full relaxation mode. Oh, there’s also a golf course, outdoor pool, and great on-site dining options. Did someone say quadruple win?

When you’re in the Caribbean, nothing beats direct access to the beach. Am I right, or am I right? Combine this with a laid-back atmosphere, on-site dining, and wonderfully spacious rooms and you have the Timothy Beach Resort. And what better way to wash off the day of seawater (rise off before you do) than a relaxing evening in the pool overlooking the sea? Pure bliss, I tell you.

St Kitts Neighborhood Guide – Best Places to Stay in St Kitts

Frigate Bay
Frigate Bay is found on the southeast coast of St Kitts, known for its epic beaches and overall great vibe. The area can actually be further divided into Frigate Bay North and Frigate Bay South, each offering a slightly different experience.

Basseterre
Basseterre is none other than the capital of St Kitts, located on the southwest coast of the island. Think bustling markets, colourful architecture, and culturally significant landmarks like Independence Square and the Circus.

New Road (and Surrounds)
The prominent area of New Road has grown significantly over the past few years, with vast improvements in both infrastructure and residential activity. What makes it such a great place to base yourself when visiting St Kitts’s strategic location?
Compared to other islands in the Caribbean, St. Kitts is not considered to be that large, sitting at about 168 square kilometres/65 square miles. There are, however, multiple neighborhoods scattered across its shores, with a few notable ones that I’d recommend staying in when visiting the island. These include Frigate Bay, Basseterre, and New Road (and surrounds).
Each neighborhood offers a different experience, and where you choose will depend entirely on what you’re looking to get out of your stay. I have selected my personal picks according to a few categories. These include the best place to stay for your first time, the best place to stay on a budget, and the best place to stay for those traveling as a couple.
When you’re deciding on where to stay in St. Kitts for your first visit to the island, my recommendation is Frigate Bay for a number of reasons. There is a vibrant nightlife, it has incredible beaches close by, and it boasts stunning views of the Caribbean Sea. I mean, what more could you ask for? How about dining at beachfront restaurants, enjoying water sports, and exploring the St Kitts Scenic Railway? It’s really the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation.

Right, for those budget-conscious travelers out there, Basseterre is the perfect spot for you to stay. There is a great selection of affordable accommodations, along with local eateries that don’t break the bank. You can also find some fun, free (or low-cost) attractions like the Circus and the National Museum. Overall, it’s the perfect way to experience local culture, enjoy scenic views, and explore historic sites without taking out a loan.
Finally, if you’re a couple visiting St Kitts, I would recommend staying on New Road and its surroundings thanks to its peaceful and romantic atmosphere. There is easy access to stunning beaches and there are some great, cosy accommodation options. Think intimate strolls and romantic dining at local restaurants – it’s the perfect combination for an unforgettable couples retreat.
St. Kitts’ Three Best Neighborhoods to Stay in
Now that we have affirmed that St. Kitts is one of the best tropical islands to visit, let’s dive into some of the best neighborhoods to stay in. I’ve included some of my top picks for where to stay in each, so there’s something for everyone. Who said I wasn’t nice?
1. Frigate Bay – Where to Stay in St. Kitts for Your First Time
Frigate Bay is found on the southeast coast of St Kitts, known for its epic beaches and overall great vibe. The area can actually be further divided into Frigate Bay North and Frigate Bay South, each offering a slightly different experience.

The North is more about water sports, beach bars, and great nightlife, while the South is a lot more chilled and centred on the beach and the ocean. There are also some pretty great golf courses if that’s your cup of tea (or a hot of rum in the Caribbean context).
Overall, Frigate Bay is the perfect mix of excitement and tranquility, so there’s something for everyone. This is also one of the main reasons why I think it’s the perfect spot for first-time visitors to St Kitts.
Royal St. Kitts Hotel | Best Hotel in Frigate Bay
The Royal St. Kitts Hotel is nothing short of a beachfront paradise. I know, bold statement, but I wouldn’t make it if I didn’t think it was true. You can expect luxurious rooms, refreshing swimming pools, top-notch dining, and even an 18-hole golf course. If that didn’t catch your attention, then I’m sure the easy beach access and proximity to other epic activities might help to sway your decision.

How does a beachfront oasis sound to you? Well, believe it because that’s exactly what Timothy Beach Resort is. Think fully-kitted rooms with plenty of space and cascading sea views. It sounds pretty ideal, right? Aside from this, you’ll have full access to a beachfront bar from where you can walk across the white sand beach and directly into the sea.

Hide Yo’ Money!FAQs About Where to Stay in St. Kitts
As we all know, there are always questions when it comes to any destination. Here are a few of the most common ones about where to stay in St. Kitts.
What To Pack For St. Kitts
Pants, socks, underwear, soap?! Take it from me: packing for a hostel stay is not always quite as straightforward as it seems. Working out what to bring and what to leave at home is an art I have perfected over many years.
Ear Plugs
Snoring dorm-mates can ruin your nights rest and seriously damage the hostel experience. This is why I always travel with a pack of decent ear plugs.
Hanging Laundry Bag
Trust us, this is an absolute game changer. Super compact, a hanging mesh laundry bag stops your dirty clothes from stinking, you don’t know how much you need one of these… so just get it, thank us later.
Sea To Summit Micro Towel
Hostel towels are scummy and take forever to dry. Microfibre towels dry quickly, are compact, lightweight, and can be used as a blanket or yoga mat if need be.
Monopoly Deal
Forget about Poker! Monopoly Deal is the single best travel card game that we have ever played. Works with 2-5 players and guarantees happy days.
Grayl Geopress Water Bottle
Always travel with a water bottle! They save you money and reduce your plastic footprint on our planet. The Grayl Geopress acts as a purifier AND temperature regulator. Boom!

Unfortunately, things can go wrong when you least expect it. This is why good travel insurance is essential before you head on your trip to St. Kitts.
ALWAYS sort out your backpacker insurance before your trip. There’s plenty to choose from in that department, but a good place to start is Safety Wing.
They offer month-to-month payments, no lock-in contracts, and require absolutely no itineraries: that’s the exact kind of insurance long-term travellers and digital nomads need.
