Noosa is a truly special place and it doesn’t take long before it hooks you in!
But what I didn’t understand is that Noosa isn’t a town but a region filled with gorgeous coastal and hinterland towns, all of which have their own little vibes and appeal.
When most people talk about visiting Noosa they are talking about Noosa Heads and Hastings Street. But don’t be fooled, there’s so much more to explore in the area! Lucky for you (and me), I’ve explored every nook of Noosa and have a lot of wisdom to share.

Noosa is brimming with action – from surfing, hiking and admiring the tanned babes who roam the town! There are loads of different areas to stay and deciding which is the best will completely depend on YOU and what you want to get out of your travels.
As we go through this article, I’ll dive into each area and let you who a bit about who it’s best for, the best places to stay AND the best things to do! But if you’re short on time, you can find my top 3 accommodation picks for Noosa below…

For a luxurious stay in Noosa, look no further than Tingirana Noosa. The beachfront hotel is one of the best stays on Hastings Street for those who like their holidays a bit more boujee.

Gorgeous white-wash walls and greenery accents create the perfect beachy feel at Bounce Noosa. Located in the laidback Noosaville, the hostel offers private rooms and shared dorms, making it a great option for both solo and group travellers on a budget.

Noosa Heads is the most popular place to stay in the region. It’s within walking distance of Hastings Street and Main Beach without the high price tag. There are plenty of accommodation options from luxury resorts to budget-friendly apartments.
Noosaville
Noosaville has a charming riverside town with plenty to offer, especially for budget travelers. You have access to the same beautiful beaches and national park and can head out on an early morning kayak/SUP session on the Noosa River.
Hastings Street
While Hastings Street is technically a part of Noosa Heads, I wanted to give my party people a shoutout because it is the best place to stay in Noosa if you’re looking for some nightlife.
Sunshine Beach
The beaches in Australia are seriously mint. But the beaches in Noosa are out of this world. Sunshine Beach is located just south of Noosa Heads and is arguably one of the best places to stay in Noosa for families.
As I mentioned, Noosa is actually a large region with many different areas in North Queensland, Australia. It’s the ultimate destination for a wide variety of people who visit Australia. On any given day you might run into the Hemsworth brothers (still praying for this one) or some famous Instagram influencer.
Along with the rich and famous, it’s also an epic stop on any Working Holiday Visa or for a backpacking adventure. It’s near the Great Barrier Reef, Fraser Island, and an endless amount of National Parks-damn… I’m already jealous of your time there.
Whether your priority lies in partying all night long on Hastings Street or heading out for an early morning surf sesh, this Noosa Area guide will help point you in the right direction of where to stay. Noosa was one of my favourite places to stay while backpacking the Sunshine Coast.
For first-timers, I always recommend staying in Noosa Heads; this is typically what people refer to when they say Noosa. Here, you’ll find the famous Hastings Street, which leads straight to our beloved Noosa Main Beach and is lined with some of the most beautiful (and expensive) houses you’ve ever seen.

Noosa ain’t cheap, so if you’re on a budget, accommodation options might be limited. However, Noosaville is home to some of the best budget stays and hostels in Noosa. Located on the Noosa River, it’s a laid-back area with plenty of low-key bars and restaurants.
Sunshine Beach is another popular area in Noosa, it’s one of my favourite stays for a family vacation. It’s a bit quieter and more secluded from the drinking and carrying on of Hastings Street, with stunning beachfront houses and a beautiful stretch of beach. (Morning surf here is chef’s kiss)
But if you are hoping to get WILD during your East Coast backpacking trip, Hastings Street is where it’s at. It’s lined with bars, restaurants, and clubs that come alive at night. It can be spenny, but the views and atmosphere are worth it.

Every area sounds lush, right? It totally is, Noosa was home to some of my favourite places I visited while backpacking Australia. However, depending on your travel style and budget, some areas might just check more of your boxes than others.
So let’s really break it down and find somewhere that will best fit your trip.
1. Noosa Heads- Where to Stay in Noosa for Your First Time
Noosa Heads is the most popular place to stay in the region, and it’s a great option for first-timers in Noosa. It’s located right in the middle of the other three areas I’ll discuss and offers easy access to all of them. If you want to be front and centre, amongst the main event – Noosa Heads is for you!

You’ll also find Noosa Junction in a little cove off the beach where the locals hang out. You truly get the best of all that Noosa has to offer in this central location.
L’Auberge Noosa | Best Apartment in Noosa Heads
For a tranquil escape in the middle of Noosa Heads, L’Auberge Noosa is your spot. Tucked away on a quiet street, this spacious apartment is the sweetest tropical escape.
With a heated saltwater pool and hot tub, you’ll feel like you’re in paradise. Watch the sunset with a glass of wine from your private balcony or take a stroll to the beach, just a 15-minute walk away.
Anchor Motel Noosa | Best Motel in Noosa Heads
This upscale motel is a fabulous stay for those looking for a convenient location and top-notch amenities. Close to popular attractions like Noosa Main Beach, Hastings Street, and Noosa National Park, it’s in a great location.
This motel offers comfortable rooms with modern furnishings and balconies overlooking the pool (a dreamy view to start the day!)
Nomads Noosa | Best Hostel in Noosa Heads
Surrounded by tropical gardens, Nomads is one of my favourite stays in Noosa Heads. This hostel and resort is the perfect mix of budget-friendly and luxury, with both dorms and private rooms available.
The pool and bar area is always full of travellers (ideal for meeting new travel buds), and being so close to the beach and Noosa National Park, there is always a group heading out to explore.
It’s bringing that bang for your buck that brings us, budget backpackers, to our knees!

Personally, I think Noosaville doesn’t get enough credit. It may not have the glitz and glam of Noosa Heads, but it’s a charming riverside town with plenty to offer, especially for those travelling on a budget. You have access to the same beautiful beaches and national park and can head out on an early morning kayak or SUP session on the Noosa River.

Villa Noosa Hotel is a great budget stay for groups of friends or families in Noosaville. The rooms are large with private balconies giving everyone some space.
Spend your mornings lounging by the pool enjoying your FREE drink vouchers (yes, you read that right). Weekends are a blast with foosball and live music in the sports bar downstairs. You’ll love the social vibe!
Bounce Noosa | Best Hostel in Noosaville
If you’re all about the aesthetics then Bounce Noosa is gonna be a clear winner. The white-washed hostel is the perfect budget-friendly stay for those who don’t like to know they’re on a budget.
With a gorgeous pool, outdoor lounge areas, and even an in-house bar to slurp up some margs, it’s hard to believe you’re paying hostel prices.
Howie’s Place Noosa | Best Homestay in Noosaville
For those who don’t plan on spending too much time in the room, Howie’s is an excellent option. The basic room is clean, and spacious, and comes with a private garden area to sip your coffee… dreamy. The location is perfect for exploring Noosaville on foot or just a quick drive to the more popular Noosa Heads area.

3. Hastings Street – Best Area to Stay in Noosa For Nightlife
While Hastings Street is technically a part of Noosa Heads, I wanted to give my party people a shoutout because it is the best place to stay in Noosa if you’re looking for some nightlife. This is where you’ll find all the best bars, clubs, and restaurants.
The street runs parallel to the beachfront and is lined with some of the best boutiques, galleries, and cafes during the day. However, once the sun goes down, Hastings Street comes alive with an electric atmosphere. The laidback holiday vibe is still present, but now there’s a buzz of energy as people head out to enjoy the nightlife.
Tingirana Noosa | Best Hotel on Hastings Street
This beachfront hotel is so lush! On one side, you have Hastings Street, and on the other side, you have beach views! Start your day with a cup of coffee on the balcony overlooking the crystal clear water before heading down to the pool for a swim.
The hotel also has direct access to Noosa Main Beach, making it a perfect spot for surfers and beach lovers. It’s a pretty romantic spot, so if you’re travelling as a couple, I’d 10/10 recommend this spot.
The Sebel Noosa | Best Apartment on Hastings Street
The Sebel Noosa is a great stay on Hastings Street for a smaller price tag, it’s by no means cheap but it’s not beachfront prices either. Just a quick walk to the beach, this apartment-style hotel offers spacious and modern rooms. The pool is surrounded by lush greenery, giving it a secluded and tranquil feel.
Seahaven Noosa Beachfront Resort | Best Resort on Hastings Street
For the perfect place to wake up after a night out on Hastings Street, look no further than Seahaven Noosa Beachfront Resort. Nurse the headache as you relax by the pool and gaze out toward the sea…

Final Thoughts on Where to Stay in Noosa
Noosa is one of my favourite places in all of Australia. It’s the best mix of all things Aussie. Gorgeous beaches, blokes in bars, and plenty of outdoor activities to keep you busy. Whether you’re a surfer, foodie, or just want to relax on the beach with a good book, there is something for everyone in Noosa.
If you still aren’t sure where to stay in Noosa, I recommend staying in Noosa Heads, especially if you only have a few days. This will give you easy access to all the main attractions. Nomads Noosa is easily my favourite place to stay here.
But if you have more time and want a more laid-back experience, Noosaville is the best place for it. It’s a little more vibey with locals and hostels making it easy to meet friends. My favourite hostel is Bounce Noosa, it’s the perfect mix of boujee, budget and social!
But regardless of where you choose to stay in Noosa, get ready to fall in love with the tropical paradise on the Sunshine Coast. She’s a bloody dream, mate!
