Set nearly 190 kilometres south of Manila, Coron is a stunning destination that attracts visitors to its golden sand beaches, and shimmering turquoise waters. There is also plenty of opportunity to explore its world-class World War II-era wreck diving sites.
Coron is divided into 23 Barangays (administrative zones or villages). To help you plan your visit, my Coron neighbourhood guide will explore the best places to stay in Coron based on what you wanna do. Let’s start with Coron Town, the largest settlement in Coron.
Coron Town is home to restaurants and bars, as well as the best accommodation options in the region. There are limited tourist attractions but it’s still my top choice for where to stay in Coron for one night. This is because it is so accessible and allows for easy access to other parts of the region if you want to day trip.
A short ferry ride south of Coron Town is Banuang Daan. This area is home to exquisite natural attractions, stunning beaches and world-renowned dive sights. If you’re looking for paradise or want to know where to stay in Coron for your first time, look no further than Banuang Daan.
Head slightly west of Coron Town and you’ll arrive in Dicanituan Island. Not technically an island, a quiet oasis outside of the city, Dicanituan Island is one of the coolest places to stay in Coron. Thanks to its great beach, tranquil environment and coastal walking trail, this place takes the cool crown in my opinion.
And finally, Concepcion is a small community situated northwest of Coron Town. It is located on the Busuanga side of the island and boasts a great variety of attractions and activities. So it’s a top choice for where to stay in Coron with your family or kids.

Hide Yo’ Money!FAQs About Finding a Place to Stay in Coron
Here’s what people usually ask about the areas of Coron and where to stay.
What To Pack For Coron
Pants, socks, underwear, soap?! Take it from me, packing for a hostel stay is not always quite as straightforward as it seems. Working out what to bring and what to leave at home is an art I have perfected over many years.
Ear Plugs
Snoring dorm-mates can ruin your nights rest and seriously damage the hostel experience. This is why I always travel with a pack of decent ear plugs.
Hanging Laundry Bag
Trust us, this is an absolute game changer. Super compact, a hanging mesh laundry bag stops your dirty clothes from stinking, you don’t know how much you need one of these… so just get it, thank us later.
Sea To Summit Micro Towel
Hostel towels are scummy and take forever to dry. Microfibre towels dry quickly, are compact, lightweight, and can be used as a blanket or yoga mat if need be.
Monopoly Deal
Forget about Poker! Monopoly Deal is the single best travel card game that we have ever played. Works with 2-5 players and guarantees happy days.
Grayl Geopress Water Bottle
Always travel with a water bottle! They save you money and reduce your plastic footprint on our planet. The Grayl Geopress acts as a purifier AND temperature regulator. Boom!
Check out my definitive Hotel Packing list for even more top packing tips!
How do I get to Kayangan Lake?
You’ll take a boat ride that’ll take about 20-30 minutes and is pretty mellow. This is a stunning boat ride and you can kick back and enjoy the scenes. If you like lakes you’ll love Barracuda Lake – it’s fresh AND salt water! What the heck?!
Are there Manila to Coron, Palawan flights?
Yes! I love to use Rome2Rio for any questions like this – you can fly directly or take the ferry – up to you!
Is there a beachfront hotel in Coron, Palawan?
Absolutely, it’s out of the way but daaaayum, Sangat Island Dive Resort is the place to be. Beachview villas and fantastic food, sign me up!
Don’t Forget Travel Insurance for Coron
Imagine… you’re island hopping… enthralled in the stunning scenes of Coron and you hear a plop of water… it’s your backpack… Who cares? Because you’re clever and have good travel insurance, eh? Get that now.
ALWAYS sort out your backpacker insurance before your trip. There’s plenty to choose from in that department, but a good place to start is Safety Wing.
They offer month-to-month payments, no lock-in contracts, and require absolutely no itineraries: that’s the exact kind of insurance long-term travellers and digital nomads need.
SafetyWing is cheap, easy, and admin-free: just sign up lickety-split so you can get back to it!
