If you’ve travelled to New Zealand, you’ve probably noticed it does pretty well in the scenery department. If fact, I’d go as far as saying it boasts some of the best landscapes in the world. The area of Martinborough is no exception, it is seriously beautiful.

Home to sparse green landscapes that seem to go on for days, rows of vines and olive trees and a small-town vibe that keeps you coming back for more. Even if you’re not heading there for a New Zealand wine tour, Martinborough is still worth a visit (but you should definitely visit a winery, or two).

The vineyards in Martinborough are so close to one another that they can be explored by bike! Of course, staying near (or on) your favourite vineyard is a smart move. But whichever you choose, you won’t be far from being able to sample all the good drops in the area.

Margrain Vineyard is a popular winery in Martinborough, so what better place to perch up for the night before/ after a day of tastings? With your stay here, Margrain also throws in a FREE wine tasting… that’s a sure way to sign me up. Plus, a free continental breakfast… I know they are a pretty generous bunch at Margain Vineyard.

Not only that but you’re also nearby loads of other wonderful wineries to explore too. The villas are pretty specious but they are at the more budget end of the stay in the area. Perfect for those travelling on a budget who want all the good stuff that comes with a vineyard stay without the hefty price tag.

Parehua Resort | Over-the-Top Luxury Vineyard Stay in Martinborough

Parehua Resort is home to some pretty immaculate cottages… yep, that’s right, there are multiple cottages on offer here. Catering for between two and four guests, you can find a luxury cottage to fit a smaller budget or a bottomless budget.

All of the cottages are modern with beautiful interiors designed to make you feel at home. They also come with a fireplace, fully-equipped kitchens and bathrooms with a spa bath and under-floor heating to keep those toes warm all year about.

My favourite part about this vineyard accommodation is the deck out the front, placed right next to rows of vines, you can sip your favourite drop and soak in the views. If you are up for firing up the grill, you’ll find a BBQ to use here too; the perfect way to end the day.

The Wine Shed

This home is the perfect blend of rustic and modernity, it’s the kind of place that instantly makes you feel at home. Surrounded by rows of vines, this property is another one that tops the charts on wine stays in Martinborough.

The home has two bedrooms but is in fact suitable for six guests. One of the bedrooms has a second level with a pull-out couch that is surprisingly comfy! It’s the perfect place for families or groups of friends to stay in Martinborough, particularly if you want to be right close up and personal with the wineries.

Luxury Gatehouse On 26 Rows Vineyard

Guys, this one is loaded with good stuff. It makes me want to lock in another trip just thinking about it. A free bottle of wine, free use of bikes to explore the neighbouring wineries and a kitchen stacked with everything you could need. The hosts at 26 Rows Vineyard are bloody generous to their guests. If you plan to buy their wine, they also offer a free wine tasting!

This luxury vineyard accommodation in Martinborough is perfect for friends or two couples with two double bedrooms. Wander through the vineyards while you sip on a glass of the winery’s finest… that sounds good to me.

Villa in the Vines

This villa in the vines has a perfect old-world charm that invites you in and makes you feel warm and comfortable. The hosts have the kitchen stocked with all the essentials – milk, bread, eggs aaaaand wine!!! Yep, these guys are another epic host who offer their guests a bottle of local wine to enjoy during their stay.

The cottage is surrounded by lush green gardens to relax in. Crack open that bottle, sit back and soak it all in. Mystree Estate is the perfect place to stay for those who enjoy getting to know their hosts and more about the local area. This wine stay is set up almost like a homestay where you get to enjoy the entire downstairs of a family’s home (the family live upstairs).

The hosts are super generous with sharing tips and tricks about the local area. They even go above and beyond and will drive you into town for dinner and pick you up! These guys should wear capes, they are seriously superhosts.

It’s the perfect place to relax and unwind – either enjoy a wine on the decking overlooking the mountains or soak in the hot tub, the choice is yours! However, it’s important to note these guys close from mid-June to end-August.
