Ohio is one of the most popular and happening parts of the Midwestern region in the US. The “Buckeye State” is well-known for its buckeye trees, lakes, wooded retreats, theme parks, outdoor recreation and excellent breweries.

The main cities in Ohio host a variety of things to do and have interesting places to see. Ohio state is referred to as the “birthplace of aviation” because the Wright Brothers grew up in the city of Dayton.

Ohio has something for everyone and when it comes to accommodation. Ohio is affordable for the average traveler or backpacker, but there are some luxury options out there too.

However, I always recommend staying at a bed and breakfast because it allows you to really feel the warm hospitality of the Ohio residents. B&Bs are homely and comfortable, and they’re in ideal locations that are always close to the best attractions.

If that all sounds great and you’re interested in finding the best bed and breakfasts in Ohio, read on to know more.

Ohio has loads of different types of accommodations available. As I said earlier, I prefer a good bed and breakfast over a standard hotel any day. The locations of most B&Bs in Ohio are very ideal for the average traveller and are sometimes even in a unique building. Imagine staying in a log cabin in the middle of the woods, for example. What an amazing experience it would be!

On top of that, bed and breakfasts can often be one of the most affordable means of accommodation. Usually family-owned, you’ll get to stay somewhere more authentic to the area and of course, have a home-cooked breakfast to top it all off. Win win!

So whether you choose to stay in a private room in a restored Victorian home or opt for a log cabin, you will have the perfect stay in Ohio.

What to Look for in a Bed and Breakfast in Ohio

Ohio has a variety and a number of awesome B&Bs to choose from. There are chic loft apartments, log cabins, private suites, and even luxurious homes for an entire family. These accommodations are near the town centre or main attractions, so you’re always on the scene. You can choose good quality budget-friendly places or even splurge on a luxury stay – the options will fit any kind of pocket!

But before you can start booking a bed and breakfast, it’s important to consider where you’re going to stay. While the aviation geek in you will love Dayton, the nature-lover in you will adore staying in Cleveland. This bustling city in Ohio offers many parks with lots of outdoor activities.

Columbus is Ohio State’s capital city and has loads of things to do. While Sandusky, located along Lake Erie, appeals to water lovers and theme-park enthusiasts. The city hosts the famous theme park Cedar Point, also known as “America’s Roller Coaster.”

If you’re staying in Cincinnati, however, you will enjoy the picturesque Mt Adams neighborhood and the popular Eden Park.

Wherever you want to stay, make sure you look for a B&B with a private room and a private bathroom, unless you’re happy to share a bathroom, it’s your choice. Most B&Bs come with a restaurant, and of course, breakfast included, but you can also find B&Bs that allow you to use the kitchen.

Most B&Bs in Ohio will have a porch or outdoor seating area where you can relax and watch the world go by. B&Bs tend to be refurbished historic buildings, so you’ll want to read the reviews carefully to make sure the refurbishments are up to scratch.

The ideal place to start your search is from Airbnb or Booking.com, where you can have a great range of places to choose from that suit your preferences. But it takes much time and energy, so I’ve listed some great B&B options for you below.

Final Thoughts on B&Bs in Ohio

So, are you ready to get close and personal with the Buckeye State? It’s time to take that quick business trip or weekend holiday with your family, friends, or partners.

Staying at a bed and breakfast in Ohio is a great way to experience what the state has to offer in each of its cities. But takes a lot of time and energy on searching for and choosing the right B&B to fit your budget and preferences. I totally get it, which is why you can take out some of that stress and choose from the list I have compiled above.

Our last note – whenever you’re travelling to an international destination, it is always wise to consider travel insurance. Unforeseen incidents may happen, and we feel it’s best if you’re prepared. The added security from travel insurance will also ease your mind and make your travels safe!
