Florida has always been a firm favourite for me since visiting as a kids on some wonderful family trips. From flying through the air on rollercoasters, relaxing on the endless tropicals beaches to taking a hovercraft through the alligator-infested everglades or even hitting up the cities.

There’s plenty to do in The Sunshine State. Boasting a warm tropical climate, miles of white sand beaches, and a super laid-back atmosphere, it’s no wonder me and the rest of the team have visited on countless occasions. What’s more, it’s got something for everyone, from a romanic couples vacay to an action packed family holiday.

A hotel or resort might seem the obvious place to stay whilst visiting Florida, and I did that the first few times I visited too. However, staying at a B&B offers the chance to sample the southern hospitality the state is known for (after the weather!). Plus, you get cheaper deals than standard hotels and a much more homely atmosphere.

There are a lot of different options when it comes to picking out a location too. You can hit up the popular spots such as Miami, Orlando, Key West, Fort Lauderdale, and Jacksonville. Or, you can head off to explore somewhere a little more off the beaten track, especially, if like me, you’ve already many of the main vacation spots.

Either way, I’ve always found that a bed & breakfast offers something a bit more unique and adds that bit of extra authenticity to my trip. Whether that’s in a Miami modernist inn or a B&B from the 1800s, you’ll get a homely welcome and local knowledge to boot.

Let’s jump right in and take a look at the best bed and breakfasts in Florida!

Not many places in the US contain so many exciting attractions in one state as Florida. You’ll struggle to find a spot in Florida where there’s no water, and whether you choose a coastal, riverside, everglade, or lakeside destination, you’ll be blessed with B&B options from one corner of the state to the other. From glitzy Miami bnbs to laid-back establishments, you can find it all in Florida.

Most B&Bs are run by local families and offer a unique, homey atmosphere. Personal touches, home-cooked meals, and friendly service make guests feel right at home. Another benefit? Even the best bed and breakfasts in Florida can be booked for a fraction of the price of a commercial hotel.

What to Look For in a Bed and Breakfast in Florida

As you might expect, most B&Bs in Florida offer daily breakfast served on an outdoor terrace or in a cute dining room. Restaurants and bars are typical at these properties, and budget B&Bs and hostels might even allow you to make use of a shared kitchen if you prefer to cook for yourself.

Because the state is a year-round tropical destination, most properties will also have a private pool for you to cool off in and that has been our experience too.

As the home of Disneyland and tons of other amusement parks, you won’t struggle to find a family-friendly spot with amenities for children. From toys to playgrounds to swimming pools to garden games, many B&Bs offer space for kids to socialize and interact with other families and kids.

Most bed and breakfasts come with parking, but if you’re embarking on a road trip, you might find motel B&Bs in Florida to be a better option.

When it comes to searching for B&Bs in Florida, Airbnb and Booking.com are the best platforms as you can refine your searches to find the most luxurious or budget-friendly properties.

Now that you know what to expect from a bed and breakfast in Florida, let’s take a better look at my pick of the top ten B&Bs. From family-friendly rooms to private suites, there’s a property for everyone on this varied list.

Overall Best Value Bed & Breakfast in Florida – Waterfront Inn w/ Pool

Waterfront Inn with Pool and BBQ Deck, Florida

Let’s kick off my list with an affordable bed and breakfast with beautiful views. This creekside spot is one of the best bed and breakfasts in Florida because of its value for money and great location.

The rooms have been fitted with contemporary furniture and pops of yellow color. Even though breakfast is included in the rate, and guests can use the shared kitchen, this room has its own kitchenette, private bathroom, and deck, but it’s the view and location we love the most.

Located on the banks of the creek, this spot has tons of lawn space, a pool, and terraces, all overlooking the calm water.

Coastal Themed Family Room in Beachside BnB, Florida

It’s no secret that Florida is one of the best destinations for a family vacation, and this four-sleeper room is the perfect spot for the job. The affordable room is decorated following a kitsch coastal theme, with wooden boat motifs and even a false shark head caught in a net above the beds!

If there are more than four of you, feel free to rent out another room in the house for more space. As one of the best bed and breakfasts in Florida for young families, the B&B is run by a local family who serves a continental breakfast each morning.

Best B&B in Florida for Backpackers – Island Charm Backpackers

Island Charm Backpackers with Kitchen and Yard, Florida

Backpackers, pack your backpacks because we’ve found the perfect spot for you to rest your head. Located in the heart of Key West, this spot offers affordable dorm room accommodation in one of Florida’s most upmarket areas.

Not only does Island Charm offer a huge outdoor chill area with a gazebo, hammocks, and string lights, but it even has a fully equipped outdoor kitchen which is available to guests 24 hours a day. There are also coin-operated laundry facilities, free parking for anyone on a Florida road trip, and daily housekeeping included in the low daily rate.

Bed and Breakfast with the Best Views – Gorgeous Port d’Hiver B&B

Gorgeous Port d Hiver BnB with Ocean Views, Florida

With a body of water in almost every direction you look, Florida is not short of great views. This B&B perfectly blends a homey atmosphere with luxury with its exquisite ocean views.

If you’re not down on the beach out front, I have no doubt you’ll be enjoying the pool courtyard, which has a rocky waterfall feature, an al fresco fireside dining area, and tons of sun loungers. As gym rats, me and my partner have enjoyed staying at this B&B where we can hit the gym before a relaxing swim.

The rooms are super romantic, with high ceilings, natural light, luxurious linens, and sea views. Choose to enjoy your gourmet breakfast on your private balcony or in one of the gorgeous shared living spaces.

Best Located Bed and Breakfast in Florida – Spanish-Inspired Casa

Spanish Inspired Casa BnB with Courtyards, Florida

You’ll be both on the waterfront and around the corner from all the major St. Augustine attractions at this Spanish-inspired casa.

One of the best bed and breakfasts in Florida, this spot comprises many separate buildings surrounding different courtyards and outdoor patios. Choose from one of the countless shaded nooks and settle in with a good book.

Each room is decorated with antique Victorian furniture and has an ensuite bathroom and a private seating area. A superb breakfast is served daily, which you can enjoy on the terrace before heading out for a day in the sun.

Most Remote Bed and Breakfast in Florida – Secluded Lakeside B&B

Secluded Lakeside BnB with Boats, Florida

If you’re looking for a bit of peace and quiet, this beautiful farmhouse near Eustis is your best bet. Located on a semi-private lake, the hosts allow guests to use their small private boat and kayak during their stay. You’ll have full access to the main house, including the kitchen, lounge, and patios.

Only visit this spot if you’re up for an unplugged adventure in nature. Leave your phone on silent and enjoy a good book on the patio surrounded by nature instead. You’ll experience raw southern hospitality and local charm at its best here, where your hosts will gladly guide you to the best restaurants and shops in the area.

Don’t Forget Your Florida Travel Insurance

ALWAYS sort out your backpacker insurance before your trip. There’s plenty to choose from in that department, but a good place to start is Safety Wing.

Final Thoughts on Bed and Breakfasts in Florida

    Florida B and B

With so many B&Bs to choose from, I hope you found what you were looking for with these top ten properties in Florida. Depending on your desired location, budget, travel group, and personal expectations, you could choose from beachside retreats to secluded lakeside sanctuaries.

The best bed and breakfasts in Florida offer a personalized touch that you won’t find at a hotel chain (for a fraction of the price), which is why I always opt for one whenever I visit Florida.

I advise taking advantage of everything the state has to offer by exploring Florida by road. This way, you can spend time at different B&Bs, meet new friends, and get a taste of the inland southern hospitality, the coastal paradise, and the bustling cities all in one trip.

Don’t forget to purchase decent travel insurance for your trip. International travelers – I’m speaking to you! You don’t want to ruin an enjoyable trip with exorbitant medical expenses or flight cancellations.
